ESPN Player Evaluations

Nike TOC-Dec. 09: Had moments but still looking for that consistency that will let her be an impact player every minute on the floor. For some reason there seemed to be a hesitancy to her game in Phoenix. Ballhandling still needs to evolve to play the wing at the next level. Jumper was erratic but will settle down as she refines her form.

Boo Williams-April 09: Six-foot-three Ariel Edwards of the Philadelphia Belles has a long, lean build combined with exceptional athleticism, which makes her a difficult matchup for any forward. She runs the floor with the guards and cuts aggressively in the halfcourt. Add to that some solid perimeter skills and the idea of her on the wing isn't out of the question on either end of the floor. Her wingspan, speed and lateral mobility give her the ability to defend on the perimeter as well as in the post.

Super Sunday-Jan.09: Christ the King's (Middle Village, N.Y.) Ariel Edwards was named by Blue Chip the MVP for her team in the game against Central Dauphin. She finished with 17 points and could have easily scored 27 if she converted on some layups that didn't drop. She is 6-2 and very athletic for her size and sometimes she gets going too fast leading to gimmees coming off the glass hard or just rimming out. She could be the sleeper, in terms of recruiting, in the 2010 class. As she develops and learns the game she could pass a lot of the players ranked ahead of her because her physical tools are there.

TOC Dec. 08 II:Her size and athleticism are a major plus. She may be playing some forward but has all the tools for major potential on the wing. Her ball handling skills are good and allow her to create her own opportunities. Her movement at both ends of the floor is fluid and she has the ability to get up and down in transition.

TOC Dec. 08 I: Ariel Edwards of Christ the King has a ton of upside in her long and lean 6-2 body. As a junior she is able to score one-on-one from the block. She needs to learn positioning and getting to the right spots on the floor before the perimeter players are ready to make entry pass. When her basketball knowledge starts catching up with her physical tools she'll be an impact player for Bob Mackey's squad.
