ESPN Player Evaluations

Nike Nationals-July 10: Demonstrates all sorts of potential both physically and basketball wise but still leaves you looking for her to put it all together on a more consistent basis. The good is really good but the gap between seems way too long. Still has the potential to advance her game even more and if she finds that constant production she'll surprise even herself. (Lewis)

Boo Williams-April 10: Seems to be longer in her build which should serve her well. Ballhandling skills look sharper and she's more confident with her play. The consistency on her shot is erratic which may be due to a very narrow base. Consistency of play and physical strength will be important for her this summer.

USA U16 Trials-May 09: Whitney Knight was one of two players from Bishop McGuinness High School's backcourt. At 6 feet 2, she had plenty of height and length to play in the backcourt. She came on late knocking down long-range shots. Physically, she's not as strong as the swing players the committee chose to play multiple positions and she rarely played the point where we're used to seeing her with her club team.

TOC Dec. 08 II: Long, lean and athletic, Knight has all the tools recruiters look for on the wing. She moves well on the floor and has the ball handling and passing skills to be a threat with or without the ball in her hands. Her range is there but her shot is out in front of her which might entice quicker defenders. She can create but her pull up is somewhat awkward. Her willingness to defend as well as her mobility make a tough defender for opponents to face.

TOC Dec. 08 I: Whitney Knight of Bishop McGuinness (Kernersville, N.C.), only a sophomore, is already a recruiting target of several SEC and ACC programs. The primary reason is the fact that Knight is already a long 6-2 and, unlike most that height, she's a perimeter player. The fact that she handles the ball effectively and can see, shoot and pass over smaller perimeter players makes her a special up and coming prospect. Add to that, her ability to gather her long body and finish shots around the basket one can see why the she's attracted all the attention. She needs to find a way to use that length more in her post game and to become a quality rebounder.
