USJN Toledo-May 11: Good size, played on and off the ball. Showed ball skill against Caprice Dennis and Amber Deane, right hand dominant. Hit a 3 from the wing. Solid frame, good body control. Lacks that third gear to get into the lane but good overall court presence. (Clay)
Classic in the Country-Jan. 11: Had a tough night in a tough loss. Was able to create her looks and attack off the dribble but struggled to find the range. Her 5 of 17 shooting isn't something you'll see often from her. Had a tendency to stand when she didn't have the ball in her hands and needs to be able to find solutions as to how to contribute on cold nights from the floor. (Lewis)
Braggin' Rights-Dec. 10: Looking leaner and more fit than in the past, possibly even a bit taller as well. Assertive and aggressive with the ball in her hands. Able to create off the dribble with an explosive first step. While her handle is sound the passing decisions and execution still need some refinement. The pull up is reliable and she can work effectively among the bigs. Her perimeter shot still seems to be enduring a consistency issue but the potential and stroke is there to serve her well. (Lewis)
Braggin' Rights-Dec. 09: During an era when power players are more and more in demand by college recruiters, guards who fit that bill are at a premium. The Kenton Ridge (Ohio) sophomore has just the right combination of quickness and explosiveness to get her by most any perimeter defender. Add to that a 5-11 frame and opposing scouting reports are going to start mentioning zone defenses. Harris can attack off the dribble with either hand and can make the smart pass as well as finish at the rim. Her stroke is smooth and she elevates well on her jumper. In transition she sees the floor and her decision making is much improved over a year ago. Her size and solid build are a plus, but may start to raise an eyebrow or two when it comes to defensive footspeed.
Showtime Nationals-July 09: Harris is a strong point guard who makes good decisions and plays under control.
Braggin Rights Jan. 09: Kenton Ridge freshman guard Mariah Harris may be coming along at the right time. Just as there seems to be a movement looking for "power guards" the Lady Cougars may have one already in uniform. To say that Harris attacks might be an understatement, but her aggressive play creates opportunities and puts defenders on their heels. She has a more solid build and isn't someone you want to take a charge from, but she gets to the rim. Shot selection gets interesting at times for her but she's young and with the quality coaching at Kenton Ridge she'll get that under control.
