- Kayla West, a 5-foot-4 point guard guard from North Augusta, SC, verballed to Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas, according to her club coach, Roger Wiley of SC 76ers Black.
A Player of the Year selection by the Augusta Chronicle in 2010, West also considered an offer from UTEP, WIley said.
West was an all-state and all-area selection after averaging 18.9 points, 3.3 assists and 4.0 steals for North Augusta High School during her junior season.
"Kayla's familiarity and comfort with the Texas Southern coaching staff played a factor in her giving her verbal to the Tigers," Wiley said in an email message to ESPN HoopGurlz.
