- No. 2 senior Kelsey Bone picks South Carolina
- Kelsey Bone, a 6-foot-5 senior post who is the No. 2 ranked player in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred, announced that she will accept the scholarship offer from South Carolina and become a Gamecock next year.
Bone made the announcement during the McDonald's All-American game. She was honored earlier in the festivities with the 2009 Morgan Wootten Award. The award recognizes the nation's top high school senior who demonstrates outstanding character, exhibits leadership and embodies the values of being a student-athlete in both her schoolwork and community affairs. Past winners include Maya Moore ('07), Tina Charles ('06) and Candace Parker ('04).

- Kelsey Bone to announce commitment at McDonald's game.
- Kelsey Bone, the No. 2 ranked player in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred and the highest ranked senior yet to declare a college choice, will announce her commitment at the McDonald's All-American game. The 6-foot-4 post is scheduled to announce her commitment during the first half of the game which will be broadcasted live on ESPNU, Wednesday, April 1.
Bone was down to South Carolina, Texas and Texas A&M though some sources say the Gamecocks are no longer on her list.
The NCAA signing period for National Letters of Intent is April 15-May 20. After that time players will not be able to sign a binding NLI and will have to sign a scholarship agreement with a college instead. The scholarship agreement is non-binding.

- No. 2 Kelsey Bone and No. 4 Markel Walker to visit South Carolina this weekend
- South Carolina, which already has landed commitments from a top-flight backcourt, goes for the rest of the unit as it hosts one of the most star-studded official visits of the fall this weekend.
Kelsey Bone of Dulles, Texas, the No. 2 prospect in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred, and Markel Walker of Pittsburgh, Pa., the No. 4 prospect, will be in Columbia, S.C. Bone, a 6-foot-5 post, also is considering Illinois, Texas and Texas A&M, while Walker, a 6-1 wing, is considering Louisville and UCLA in addition to the Gamecocks.
Coach Dawn Staley already has received verbals from point guard Ieasia Walker of Copiague, N.Y., the No. 70 prospect in 2009, and guard Monique Willis of Savannah, Ga., in her first recruiting class for South Carolina. She also hosted post Cokie Reed of Waco, Texas, the No. 5 prospect in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred, on an official visit two weekends ago. Reed is at LSU this weekend and also is considering Central Arkansas, Rutgers and Texas.

- Kelsey Bone is leading USA Team in scoring through two at FIBA.
- Kelsey Bone, one of four players on the USA Basketball U18 team still in high school, is leading the team in scoring through two games at a pace of 12.5 per game. Bone scored 12 points in Thursday's 72-56 defeat of Argentina at the FIBA U18 Championships. One day earlier she scored 13 points in just 14 minutes of play in USA's 112-49 victory over Venezuela.
Bone is the highest ranked player not yet committed to a college in the 2009 class at No. 2 by ESPN HoopGurlz. Numerous college coaches still recruiting Bone and the two other uncommitted high school players on the team have travelled to Argentina to watch the action.
