No. 85 Kari Korver commits to Pac-12 program
Kari Korver, the 5-foot-9 guard from Paramount, Calif., has accepted UCLA's recent scholarship offer and has verbally committed, according to Elbert Kinnebrew, the director of the Cal Sparks program she has played in for seven years. The No. 85 prospect in the ESPNU HoopGurlz 100 had a list in the spring that included CSU-Bakersfield, Kansas, Maryland, NC State, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State and Pepperdine.

"I know that the coaching staff will help develop me as a player and a person with character," Korver said in a statement released by the Sparks. "I think UCLA has the ability to become a championship program and I would love to be apart of something that special. UCLA is 45 minutes from my home so I know I will always have the support from family and friends. I couldn?t be more excited."

Korver, a rising senior at Valley Christian High School (Cerritos, Calif.), led the nation by making 138 3-pointers as a junior. She is the cousin of NBA sharpshooter Kyle Korver, currently with the Chicago Bulls.

Cal Sparks guard Kari Korver is getting busy with unofficial visits
Kari Korver, the 5-foot-9 guard from Valley Christian High School (Cerritos, Calif.), is on a visit at Gonzaga University Tuesday, following a good showing at the Deep South Classic during the NCAA-Certified viewing period.

Korver's visit was confirmed by her Cal Sparks club team director Elbert Kinnebrew, who said she will be on campus at the University of Oregon after wrapping things up in Spokane. Korver, a 2012 prospect from Paramount, Calif., has received a lot of interest from schools out West but is also getting some interest from North Carolina State and Northwestern, according to Kinnebrew.

Korver is one of the best shooters in the class and her growth in the last year from 5-7 to 5-9 has elevated her status with many schools initially worried about her size for the shooting guard position. She also possesses the handle and confidence to play point guard in the right system.
