- Mater Dei wing Shayla Batson to leave Cali for college
- Shayla Batson, a 5-foot-9 wing from Irvine, Calif., has given her verbal commitment to Northern Arizona University according to her Irvine Sol club team President Patrick Murphy. The senior at Mater Dei High School called NAU head coach Laurie Kelly last night and gave her the good news.
Batson also considered Brown, Lafayette Collge, San Diego, and UC-Irvine before deciding on Lumberjacks. She will sign her National Letter of Intent at a ceremony with other Mater Dei student-athletes on November 11.
Batson is the second prospect from California to commit to NAU, joining Trinidee Trice, a 6-0 forward from Riverside.
