- No. 25 Xylina McDaniel makes her choice
- Xylina McDaniel of Blythewood, S.C., has verbally committed to North Carolina, her father, Xavier McDaniel, told ESPN HoopGurlz. The No. 25 prospect in the ESPNU HoopGurlz 100 chose UNC over her finalist, South Carolina, and made the pledge while on an unofficial visit this weekend.
McDaniel, the 6-foot-2 forward who has a 4-star rating, made her official visit to the Chapel Hill campus on Sept. 17. She becomes the highest ranked prospect in the Tar Heels' 2012 recruiting class. She joins No. 57 N'Dea Bryant of Goose Creek, S.C., a 6-0 wing; No. 58 Antoinette Bannister of Jacksonville, Fla., a 5-10 guard; and No. 80 Hillary Fuller of Fernandina Beach, Fla., a 6-1 forward, in head coach Sylvia Hatchell's haul.

The 6-foot-2 forward will choose between North Carolina and South Carolina, with Connecticut and Providence recently dropping from her group of finalists.
McDaniel already has taken an official visit to UNC, but is returning to attend a practice with her mother on Sunday, according to Wiley as well as her high-school coach, Anne Long of Spring Valley (Spring Valley, S.C.).
The daughter of former NBA All-Star Xavier McDaniel has been consistent in her plan to make a decision before or during the early signing period for National Letters of Intent, Nov. 9-16, but after she makes all of her visits.

- Xylina McDaniel of Blythewood, S.C., has scheduled visits with her four finalists, according to her club coach, Roger Wiley of the South Carolina 76ers.
Ranked No. 25 in the 2012 class by ESPN HoopGurlz, McDaniel took an official visit to North Carolina last weekend and already has had a home visit from South Carolina.
McDaniel will have a home visit from Connecticut on Saturday and will visit Storrs Oct. 14-16. She will have a home visit with Providence on Sept. 29 and visit there Oct. 21-22. She also has an official visit scheduled at South Carolina Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
The 6-foot-2 forward plans to announce her commitment before or during the early signing period, Nov. 9-16, but not before she completes all of her visits, Wiley said.
