- 4-star P Lubirdia Gordon pledges to Big East school
- Lubirdia Gordon, a 6-foot-4 post from Mount Veron, N.Y., has committed to West Virginia, according to her high-school coach, Patrice Moore.
Rated a four-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz, Gordon also considered Kentucky, Oklahoma and Syracuse, and had interest in Louisville, Miami and St. John.
"I picked West Virginia because they been with me since I was in the 8th grade," Gordon said via email, "I loved the school when I took a unoffical visit there, I love (associate head coach) coach (George) Porche, and I think they do a good job with their bigs."
West Viriginia is coming off a banner 2012 signing class that includes Darius Faulk of New York, N.Y., an Exodus NYC club teammate of Gordon's. "She plays to honor the late Apache Paschall," Moore said, in reference to the late Exodus coach.
Gordon averaged 13.5 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.1 blocks as a junior at Mount Vernon (N.Y.).
West Virginia is getting a player who has yet to fully reach her potential," Moore said. "When she "finally unleashes it they will be the beneficiaries of her hard work and perseverance."
