3-star F Breanna Workman chooses the Pac-12

Breanna Workman of Las Vegas, Nev., has verbally committed to the University of Arizona, according to her Centennial High School coach, Karen Weitz. The 6-foot-1 forward chose the Wildcats over finalists New Mexico and UNLV.

"Breanna is a 6-1 small forward that will be able to play on the perimeter at the next level," Weitz said. "She is able to put the ball on the floor, shoot from the outside, and mix it up in the post area as well."

Workman, who is rated a three-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz, was selected to both the All District and All State teams as a junior at Centennial. She is the second prospect from the 2013 class to commit to Arizona coach Niya Butts and her staff, joining 6-1 guard Ashley Merrill of Corona, Calif.

The rising senior and two-star prospect at Sacramento (Calif.) High School is Rebels' coach Kathy Olivier's first commitment from the 2012 class.

UNLV adds a third piece to its 2011 class

Brianna Charles, the 5-foot-5 point guard from Sacramento, Calif., has signed a National Letter of Intent with UNLV, according to her JBS club team coach Sean Chambers. Charles committed to CSU-Bakersfield before the fall early signing period but did not sign and reopened her recruitment this winter.

Charles will join Alana Cesarz, a 6-2 post from Delevan, Wis., and Danielle Miller, a three-star guard prospect from Spring Valley, Calif., in the Lady Rebels' 2011 recruiting class.

Alana Cesarz headed for Sin City

Alana Cesarz, a 6-foot-2 forward from Delevan, Wis., has verbally committed to UNLV according to her mother, Jen Cesarz.

A rising senior at Delevan-Darien High School, Alana Cesarz was also considering Gonzaga, Bradley, UW-Green Bay, Harvard and Bowling Green. She plays for the Wisconsin Lakers.

California shooting guard chooses UNLV

Danielle Miller, a 5-foot-8 shooting guard from Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley, Calif., has given a verbal commitment to play basketball at UNLV, according to her high school coach, Rob Sandoval.

Described by Sandoval as "very athletic, a great defender" and someone with "tremendous offensive ability," Miller last season averaged 14.5 points and five steals per game for Mount Miguel. She plays club ball with the Elite Basketball Organization.

Runnin' Rebs land Ta Nitra Byrd

TaNitra Byrd, the 6-foot forward from southern California powerhouse Long Beach Poly, has given her verbal commitment to UNLV, according to her Cal Sparks club team coach Elbert Kinnebrew.

Byrd also considered Colorado State, Fresno State, Long Beach State and Oregon State before chosing Kathy Olivier's program in the desert. She plans on studying in the Sports Management program.

"Tanitra is a powerful player who finishes well with either hand and is an absolute force on the offensive glass," Kinnebrew said. "She has a micro-burst gear cutting high-to-low post which is effective against taller post players she has faced at Elite Club level."

Utah's Ashley Kroneberger commits to UNLV

Ashley Kroneberger, a 5-foot-10 guard from Springville High School gave a verbal commitment to UNLV and head coach Kathy Olivier. According to her club coach, Adam Barrett, she also had an offer from Idaho State but chose the Runnin' Rebels because of the coaching staff, facilities and the warmer weather.

Kroneberger took Springfield to the state championship game, finishing second. She was selected to the All-State Tournament Team. Her senior season she averaged 16.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.6 steals, 2.1 assists and 1.3 blocks per game while maintaining a 3.5 grade point average.

Kelli Thompson signs with UNLV

Kelli Thompson, a 6-foot guard at Long Beach Poly, has signed a National Letter of Intent with Kathy Olivier and the University of Nevada Las Vegas, according to her club coach, Elbert Kinnebrew of the Cal Sparks. Thompson has helped Poly to two straight California state championships; the Jackrabbits are ranked No. 5 in the ESPN RISE Fab 50.

"A tremendous three-baller from long distance, Kelli lives to take the big shot her team needs at clutch moments,""Kinnebrew said. "If defenders overplay her shot, she has the power and handles to get to the basket off the dribble." Thompson is the eighth member of the Sparks to sign with a Division I school during the early signing period.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Durango High School point guard Mia Bell committed to UNLV for the 2009-2010 season. Last season, Bell averaged 15.3 points, 5.4 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game. She picked UNLV over Kansas State, New Mexico, Arizona and Arizona State.
