Recruiting Class:
3-star F Caitlin Diaz commits to Mountain West school
The 6-foot-2 forward said in a text message that she was released from her National Letter of Intent with Louisiana-Lafeyette.
Diaz committed to Louisiana-Lafeyette when Errol Rogers was head coach. He resigned in March and has since been replaced with Garry Brodhead.
No. 48 Candace Adams makes a Big 12 visit
Adams, a four-star prospect according to ESPN HoopGurlz, has plans to make more visits this spring but hasn't made firm plans on which schools she will visit next.
4-star G Jada Butts commits to in-state program
"She said the fact that it was close to home and how much she liked coach (Jeff) Mittie and his staff, made TCU standout more than the others schools," Mickens said. "Also, competing in teh Big 12 is something she looks forward to."
Butts is rated a four-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz. She follows a 2012 signing class that included two four-star prospects from Texas -- Veja Hamilton, a 5-10 wing, and Kamy Cole, a 5-9 guard -- as well as Zahna Medley of Springfield, Ill., a 5-6 point guard.
4-star G Kamy Cole switches from Big 12 to Mountain West
The 5-foot-9 guard took official visits to TCU (Sept. 17) and Southern Methodist (Sept. 10).
"I wanted to stay closer to home," Cole said. "I have a big family and a big fan base at Brock. I'm used to my family and friends being able to share all of my athletic events with me. I realized that with a seven-hour round trip to Oklahoma, that wouldn't be possible. Fort Worth is in my backyard, (30 minutes away) and I've always respected what coach (Jeff) Mittie has done with the TCU women's basketball program. It's a great university and I'm very excited to be a part of it."
Cole said he met with Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale in Norman, Okla., for several hours and de-committed from the sooners on Aug. 30.
"I have all the respect in the world for Coach Coale and her staff, but ultimately, my decision was based on my family, " Cole said. "It was a hard decision, but one that I feel good about. I know she has respect for me as I do for her."
Cole has helped lead Brock (Texas) High School to two straight Texas 3A state championships, last year scoring 21 points in the title game and being named tournament MVP.
TCU's other 2012 commitment is from another four-star Texan, wing Veja Hamilton.
Veja Hamilton to stay in Texas but headed for the Big East
"My coaches at TCU believe in me a great deal and I believe in TCU beyond words," Hamilton said. "I am excited about my academic opportunities at TCU and am definitely looking forward to the challenges playing in the Big East will bring. This is a perfect fit for me and I am ready to make TCU proud both on and off the court."
Hamilton, who at 5 feet 9 inches, plays as many as four different positions at the high school level. She is the first pledge for Jeff Mittie's Big East-bound Horned Frogs in the class of 2012.

Natalie Ventress, G

- North Crowley H.S. (TX)
- Scouts Grade: 91
- Position Rank (G): 28
TCU scoops up three commitments
Ventress, a 5-foot-11 guard, will be joined at TCU by DFW Elite teammate Ashley Colbert, a 6-foot-3 forward from Crowley High School. Chelsea Prince, another 5-foot-11 guard from US Elite, also gave a verbal commitment to the Frogs.
Jazzmine Parker picks TCU
The rising senior at Mayde Creek High School also considered Arizona, Houston and North Carolina State, among others, LaFleur said.
Following her junior season, Parker was named first-team all-district and Class 5A all-state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
Aron Garcia joins Horned Frogs class
"Her athleticism at 6-2 is what makes her a match-up problem for the opposing defenses," Washington Jr., said of Garcia. "Her best basketball is definitely in front of her."
Garcia, a senior at Terrel High School, is also the defending Texas 4A high jump champion.
Breisha Wynn to stay in Fort Worth
Washington cited the proximity to her home and the direction the program is heading in the Mountain West Conference with a trip the the NCAA tournament a season ago, as the main reasons Wynn chose the Horned Frogs of TCU.
TCU finished 20-11 a season ago and has made the NCAA tournament eight out of the last nine seasons.
