3-star W Bailey Farley picks Horizon League team
Bailey Farley of Fort Wayne, Ind., committed to Loyola of Illinois during an unofficial visit this week, according to her father and club coach, Gil Farley of Spiece Gym Rats Fort Wayne 2013s.
The 5-foot-10 wing also considered Central Michigan, Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne, Southeast Missouri State, St. Bonaventure and Wisconsin.
"Bailey has developed a strong relationship with the Loyola Staff over the last year and feels like this is the 'perfect fit' for her college experience," her father said in an email. "In addition to the strong basketball program and great staff, the world-class education that Loyola offers was a big factor in this decision. Also, going to school in Chicago and being relatively close to family were determining factors."
A three-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz, Farley is a junior at Canterbury (Fort Wayne, Ind.), where she is averaging 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.5 steals this season. She averaged 19.4 points and was an all-state selection as a sophomore.
"We are pleased and proud of Bailey's decision to attend Loyola University on a basketball scholarship," Canterbury coach Scott Kreiger said. "She has worked hard to earn this opportunity and we look forward to following her contributions to the Rambler program."

PG Erin Thomas gives Horizon program three commits in 2012
Erin Thomas of Spring Grove, Ill., has committed to Loyola University in Chicago, according to her club coach, Marty Dello of the Illinois Magic. The 5-foot-5 point guard originally committed to Dayton as a freshman but later decided to open her recruitment to stay closer to home.
"She displays excellent ball handling skills and can stretch the defense with her long range shooting," Dello said. "Erin fell in love with the coaches, location, and players at Loyola and is really excited about her decision."
Thomas averaged 14 points, 5 assists and 3 steals as a junior at Richmond-Burton High School (Richmond,Ill.).

Taylor Johnson gives Horizon program a second 2012 commit
Taylor Johnson, the 5-foot-7 point guard from Frankfort, Ill., has verbally committed to Loyola (Chicago, Ill.), according to her father, Ansel Johnson. She also considered Wright State, UAB, Rhode Island, Cleveland State, and Eastern Kentucky.
"Taylor was really impressed by Loyola's academics, facilities, players, and coaching staff," her father said, "plus the added advantage of being closer to home so her parents can attend her games."

G Becca Smith chooses the Horizon League
Becca Smith, the 5-foot-7 guard from Elgin, Ill., has verbally committed to Loyola University, according to her father, Tony Smith. She is the first commitment in the class of 2012 for Eric Simpson who is going into his third year as head coach of the Horizon League program.
Smith, rated as a three-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz, was credited with 19.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in her junior season at South Elgin High School by the The Courier-News and was selected All-Area first team by the publication.

Simone Law picks Loyola-Illinois
Simone Law, a 6-foot forward from Chicago Heights has given a verbal commitment to play for Loyola-Illinois according to her club coach, Jerald Davis of Chicago Hoops Express.
A rising senior at Marian Catholic High School, Law last season averaged 15 points and seven rebounds per game on her way to being named IBCA second team all state and Chicago All-Area. Before choosing Loyola, Law was also considering Bowling Green, Northern Illinois, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Illinois-Chicago and Illinois State.

Loyola lands Michigan standout Troy Hambric
Troy Hambric, a 5-foot-11 guard from Detroit, Mich., has given her verbal commitment to Loyola University in Chicago, Ill. According to her Michigan Monarchs club team coach Raymond Booker she chose the Ramblers over offers from St. Bonaventure and Oakland University and also received interest from Seton Hall.
Loyola of Chicago lands Catie O'leary
John Waring of Pacesetter Basketball, where O'Leary trains, told ESPN Hoopgurlz today that Catie O'leary gave her verbal committment to Loyola University in Chicago for the 2009-2010 basketball season. O'leary told Lady Ramblers coach Shannon Reidy that she would play for her in a phone call tuesday night. The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 18.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.7 steals per game last season. She was also named Big Eight Conference Player Of The Year for the second consecutive season, and will be a leading contender for the 2009 Wisconsin Miss Basketball award going into her senior season this fall.
2009 prospect Monica Albano makes oral commit to Loyola
Senior Monica Albano verbally committed to play basketball for Loyola, according to Chicagosports.com. Albano picked Loyola over Miami-Ohio and Lehigh. Last season she averaged 19 points a game.
Loyola gets verbal commit from Abby Skube
Senior Abby Skube verbally committed to play for Loyola University earlier in the week, according the The Times. The Chesterton forward will join rival school Portage's Lisa Samplawski, who is part of the incoming freshman class. "I'm excited to finally be on a team with her, playing at that level. Lisa was one of the best players in the (Duneland Athletic) Conference and her going there really showed me it's a good school. It'll be nice to have someone I look up to playing there."
