Bone's decision may come after early signing period
Kelsey Bone of Sugarland, Texas, the No. 2 overall prospect in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred, will visit Illinois this coming weekend, then Texas the weekend after. The 6-foot-5 post already has made official visits to Texas A&M and South Carolina.
Bone said she wants to play for a program on the rise, where she can make an immediate impact, and that all four of her finalists fit the bill. They also are nearly a dead heat in all her other categories.
The early signing period for signing national letters of intent is Nov. 12-19. The regular signing period is April 15-May 20.
Though there has been considerably speculation that Bone will stay near home and choose Texas or Texas A&M, she said proximity to her family is not an issue.
"Either way, I have their support," Bone said.
She said her mother, Kim Williams, has offered to move, if asked. Bone said if she plays out of the state of Texas, she'd likely ask her mother to move, mainly to preserve her close relationship with her 7-year-old brother, Donovan.
In spite of the unfinished nature of her recruiting process, Bone says the hectic days are behind her. Last spring, she was the target of an intense hunt and had a list of about 20 schools. Now she is down to four with which she said she feels extremely comfortable.
"I'm OK," Bone said. "I don't feel stressed at all."
