POWERADE FAB 50 Rankings: Week 10

Powerade Fab 50
Year:
Week:

The Mecca event in the Bronx, N.Y., sure did a number on the FAB 50, especially the top 10. First we learned that last week's second-ranked team, Riverdale Baptist (Upper Marlboro, Md.), fell to St. Anthony's (Melville, N.Y.), a squad that makes its POWERADE FAB 50 season debut this week at No. 48. Then last week's eighth-ranked team, Cicero-North Syracuse (Cicero, N.Y.), was upset by unranked Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.) 66-60.

The upsets allowed McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.), by virtue of its perfect 24-0 record, to ascend to the No. 2 spot, its highest ranking of the year. The Indians are clicking on all cylinders as the state playoffs near despite being tested by quality opponents and injury problems.

The top 10 wasn't the only group to suffer losses last week; seven more FAB 50 teams took a tumble. The biggest shocker outside the top 10 was former No. 12 Norcross (Ga.), which lost to unranked Mill Creek (Hoschton, Ga.) 67-53 and to this week's No. 34 team, North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.) 69-41. Other teams dropping because of losses are No. 18 North Little Rock (Little Rock, Ark.), which falls to 26th; No. 28 Memphis Central (Tenn.), which falls to 50th; and No. 29 Hamilton Southeastern (Fischers, Ind.) which falls to 39. No. 30 Bishop O'Down also lost, but to higher-ranked St. Mary's (Stockton, Calif.), and thus moves up to 28th amid the chaos. No. 38 Lake (Uniontown, Ohio) and No. 42 Thomasville Prep (N.C.) fall out of the FAB 50 thanks to their losses.
