Well, the two-week streak of the top five holding strong comes to an end with Windward (Los Angeles) moving up one spot to No. 5 with Friday's 65-62 win over then No. 11 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), sending the Monarchs down two spots to No. 13. The victorious Wildcats have two big wins in back-to-back weeks after surviving at Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) 56-55. The Jackrabbits, ranked 17th at the time, are up a spot this week at No. 16.
But we're not done with California -- this week features a FAB 50 Golden State showdown when No. 30 Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, Calif.) visits No. 21 St. Mary's (Stockton, Calif.) on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Norcross (Ga.) moves up one spot to No. 12 by continuing its winning ways despite losing star junior forward Diamond DeShields for a few weeks with a wrist injury. The week ahead for the team includes an always-solid Mill Creek (Ga.) team as well as a game against No. 45 North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.).
Finally, No. 7 Nazareth (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a statement week with convincing wins over NYC powers Bishop Ford (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.). Sophomore point guard Bianca Cuevas scored a season-high 36 points in the 74-44 rout of CTK. But things don't get any easier for Christ the King as it takes on No. 8 Cicero-North Syracuse (Cicero, N.Y.) on Sunday.
