Last weekend's matchup between No. 3 Dallas Sting and No. 4 Dallas Texans ended in a 1-1 tie, so those two teams hold their spots in this week's ESPNHS ECNL Under-17 Power Rankings.
The Sting and Texans are both back in action, and once again it could have a major impact on the rankings. Sting takes on No. 9 TSC Hurricane, a squad that beat them earlier this season. In their first match, the Hurricane got goals from Lauren King, Anna Beffer and Shiloh Price en route to a 3-0 victory. But that was back in September and this weekend's game has ECNL standings and ESPNHS power rankings on the line.
Dallas Texans takes on Challenge this weekend in a match that shouldn't cause too many problems for the No. 4 ranked team. Texans beat Challenge 5-0 back in November, thanks to a hat trick from forward Jasmine Hart.
No. 8 Slammers faces Washington Premier this weekend, and though it may not be the toughest opponent, a win Saturday could result in a higher ranking for Slammers. They've already taken over first place in the SoCal conference, and a win this weekend could put them in the top three in National Flight A.
Finally, No. 10 Real So Cal takes on West Coast this Sunday in a game that matters more for conference standings than anything else. A win would catapult Real So Cal into a three-way tie for second place in the SoCal Conference, and it could also lift them into playoff contention for National Flight A.
Throughout the rest of the season, ESPNHS will offer a weekly glance at the top 10 teams in each age group. These rankings, indicative of the results of a team rather than a prediction of future outcomes, offer a sampling of some of the top talent in the game.
