7: State championships captured by South Florida football teams last fall - all but one (2A) of the classifications. Miami Northwestern, St. Thomas Aquinas, Booker T., Naples, Pahokee, American Heritage-Delray and Jupiter Christian won gridiron titles in 2007.

3: Defending state champion football squads to lose in the Miami Sports Kickoff Classic over Labor Day weekend. Northwestern, Booker T. and Pahokee - each undefeated last season - all fell to out-of-state teams.
