Got Game Greater Cincy
MILES SIMPSON
FOOTBALL SIMON KENTON
Despite coming up short in the Kentucky Class 6A championships, the junior back enjoyed one of the best individual seasons in school history. Simpson spearheaded an offensive attack that averaged 265 rushing yards a game. He churned out 2,309 yards and reached pay dirt 41 times. He helped the Pioneers go 10-4 before falling to Trinity, 48-0, in the title game. He finished the season with 264 points, good for tenth all-time in the state.
DANIELLE JANSEN
GIRLS' SWIMMING MASON
Jansen had her fingerprints all over the Comets' successful 2007-08 season. The junior captured the state title in the 200 freestyle as a sophomore, finishing with a time of 1:48.52, and was state runner-up in the 100 freestyle (50.98). Jensen also competed in the 50 freestyle and was an integral member of the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams. She was named Co-Swimmer of the Year in the Greater Miami Conference and The Cincinnati Enquirer Division I Swimmer of the Year.
KATIE ALLEN
GIRLS' BASKETBALL HIGHLANDS
As a sophomore, Allen led Highlands with 11 points, five assists and three steals per game. She was named to The Cincinnati Enquirer All-Star first team and returns as the offensive catalyst of the area's top-ranked girls' team. She topped the 1,000-point plateau last year and remained hot at the start of the winter. She nearly outscored the entire Holy Cross team, tallying 19 points in a 64-19 win on Dec. 8. She followed that up with a 24-point-performance in a 71-59 victory over Scott on Dec. 11.
TIM O'CONNOR
FOOTBALL ELDER
Even in defeat, O'Connor had a record-setting performance. In Elder's 28-20 loss in the Division I championship, the junior receiver set the state finals record for receptions with 15 and tied the mark for most receiving touchdowns with two. He hauled in a 9-yard score late in the first half and then added a 2- yard TD reception to pull Elder within eight later in the contest. He finished with 184 receiving yards.
