O'Donnell relishes tough competition
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Brittany O'Donnell graduated from Red Bank Catholic (N.J.) as one of the nation's top high school pitchers. Rated the No. 19 recruit in the 2009 ESPNU softball player rankings, O'Donnell will head to Notre Dame in the fall.
But before she goes off to play for the Fighting Irish, O'Donnell got to take part in her second Under Armour All-America Softball Game. O'Donnell was the winning pitcher and combined on a no-hitter in this year's game, which was part of the ESPN RISE Games presented by Target and held at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.
Being a two-year vet of the Under Armour All-America Softball Game, O'Donnell decided to highlight her five favorite aspects.
1. The Competition
"Playing with and against the best competition in the country is unbelievable."
2. Getting Selected
"Going through this whole experience knowing everything you accomplished will be recognized."
"Every time you come here, even if you're 18, you can feel like a 5-year-old running through all the parks."
4. The Friendships
"You get to meet girls from all over. I've stayed in touch with the girls I played with last year."
5. The Gear
"All the Under Armour stuff we got was awesome."
