2012 Texas State Meet

State's best in 5 classes come to Austin

SATURDAY HIGHLIGHTS - LIVE RESULTS
** - G-LJ/TJ/100/200: Plano East sr Jennifer Madu gets the monster quadruple in 5A with leaps of 19-8.75 (+0.5) and US#2 42-4.25 (+1.7w), plus US#3 11.53 (+1.0w) and #15 24.03 (+1.7w).
** - B-100/200: Stunning pair of US#1s for South Grand Prairie sr Abraham Hall in 5A: 10.19 (+1.3) and 20.58 (+1.1), good for #8 and #17 all time, respectively. Three more ran 10.44 or better, and four more 20.90 or better.
** - G-DT/SP: US record-holder and Mansfield Legacy sr Shelbi Vaughn sets state meet record 187-10 in 5A -- about four feet off her USR, but only two other girls in prep history have thrown further. She follows with US#2 50-1.25, joining 50-foot club.
** - B-3200/1600: Cypress Woods sr Craig Nowak rolls to 8:59.72 win in the morning, then rips US#2 4:06.65 at night for the 5A double.
** - B-4x100/4x200: DeSoto starts the 5A finals show by rocketing to a US#1 40.09, #5 all-time, ahead of Galena Park N. Shore US#2 40.58 and Mansfield Timberview 40.70. GP-NS avenges the loss with US#2 1:24.26 to nation-leading DeSoto's 1:24.62.
** - B-400/4x400: 45.92 in 5A for Mansfield Timberview sr Aldrich Bailey, short of his US#1, but faster than anyone else in the country this year. His 4x400 anchor of 45.48 for his US#1 team left them 0.28 seconds short of Duncanville's 3:14.38.
** - G-4x400: US#1 3:40.51 in 5A for the Williams twins and Mansfield Timberview.
** - B-800: US#2 1:49.33 for Kileen Ellison sr Hector Hernandez in 5A, topping Houston Westside sr Xavier Moss (#5 1:49.99) and DeSoto sr Will Stoval (#8 1:50.78) as six break 1:52.
** - G-4x100/4x200: Sprint relay double for Garland in 5A with US#3 45.78 (DeSoto US#6 46.09) and 1:36.57 (just off their own US#3 1:36.55).
** - B-TJ: 50-11.25w (+2.6) for EP Franklin sr Felix Obi, topping 50-5.75 by Abilene Cooper's Derrick Randle.
** - G/B-PV: 13-1 for Argyle sr and US#1 Jessie Johnson in 3A, missing an overall state meet record 13-7.25. Spring sr Reese Watson gets his best vault since February with US#3 17-0 in 5A.
** - B-HJ: 7-0 for nation-leading leaper Allex Austin of San Marcos in 5A.

HIGHLIGHTS
** - B-LJ/TJ: Two US#1 and TX 3A records for Texarkana Liberty-Eylau sr Jarrion Lawson: 25-8 (+0.8w) and a 51-10.25 (-0.9w).
** - G-4x100/4x200: Lancaster sweeps the 4A short relays: US#3 45.85 and US#2 1:36.53. Behind them in the 4x1 was Little Elm US#5 46.23 and Beaumont Ozen US#6 46.26.
** - G-400/200: US#2 and state meet record 52.40 and #6 23.87 (-0.5w) double for Carrollton Newman Smith sr Courtney Okolo in 4A. She then anchors her team to US#11 3:47.11 4x4 win (52.89) to prevent Lancaster from sweeping relays.
** - G-100H/300H: US#9 13.92 (+1.7w) and US#3 41.65 double for Carrollton Creekview sr Melissa Gonzalez in 4A.
** - G-DT/SP: US#5 160-2 and US#9 48-3 double in 4A by New Braunfel-Canyon's Chamaya Turner.
** - G-LJ/TJ: Horizontal jumps double in 4A for Rockwall-Heath's Brianna Richardson with 18-10.5 (-1.2w) and 40-5.25 (+0.1w).
** - B-4x200: US#2 1:24.89 for Lancaster in 4A, which also missed winning the 4x100 by less than .01.
** - G-PV: US#3 13-3 for Boswell jr Lakan Taylor in 4A (Midway jr Annie Rhodes 2nd at US#7 13-0).
** - B-PV: US#4 16-7 for Harmony's Daven Murphee in 2A.
** - B-DT/SP: 196-2 for US#4 200-footer Hayden Reed of Little Cypress-Mauriceville in 4A. In the shot, Reed's double bid was thwarted with Rio Grande City sr Alex Garza beating him, 63-9.75 to 62-5.25.
** - B-4x400: US#6 3:14.59 for El Paso Burges, beating two 3:15s.
** - B-200/4x100: US#7 21.06 for Ft. Worth Southwest's Robert Rhodes, who also contributed to US#7 40.90 relay win and runner-up US#5 1:25.45.
** - B-TJ: US#8 48-10.75 (+0.9w) for Killeen's John Warren in 4A.
** - G-800/1600: US#10 2:09.82 in 4A for Manval's Meschelle Gills over Canyon's Arin Rice (2:09.90). Rice came back and won the 1,600 in 4:55.75.
** - B-400: US#14 47.06 win in 4A for Willis soph Chris Pratt, who defended title he won as a frosh.
** - B-3200/1600: 9:14.82 and 4:15.69 double in 4A for Friendswood's Ryan Teel.
