Boys hoops players of the week

East: Carson Desrosiers

Central Catholic (Lawrence, Mass.)

The No. 74 player in the ESPNU 100 had a triple-double with 24 points, 18 rebounds, 13 blocks and six assists to lead Central Catholic past St. John's Prep (Danvers, Mass.). Desrosiers, 6-foot-10 and committed to Wake Forest, was named MVP the previous week at the Comcast Tournament.

Southeast: J.T. Terrell

West Charlotte (Charlotte, N.C.)

A 44-point outburst in a win against Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.) actually wasn't Terrell's best of the week. The 6-foot-3 guard headed to Wake Forest drained eight 3-pointers and scored 45 points to lead West Charlotte past Hopewell (Huntersville, N.C.), 80-77. He won the game by making three free throws with three seconds left.

Midwest: Louie Schaljo

Bethel-Tate (Bethel, Ohio)

This small school standout pumped in 37 points in a 72-55 victory vs. Western Brown (Mt. Orab, Ohio). With the win, Bethel-Tate (20-0) completed its first undefeated regular season in school history. Schaljo is a 6-foot-3 senior averaging 23 ppg with a 4.3 GPA and has played seven varsity sports.

Southwest: Nathan Scheer

St. Francis Borgia (Washington, Mo.)

He led the ESPN RISE FAB 50-ranked Knights with 31 points, five steals and four assists in a 78-56 victory over Miller Career Academy (St. Louis, Mo.). Scheer, a 6-foot-5 senior going to Missouri State, had 30 points the night before as Borgia topped Westminster Christian (St. Louis, Mo.), 58-38.

West: Corey Hawkins

Estrella Foothills (Goodyear, Ariz.)

We have to select Hawkins for a second time this season from the West. The Arizona State-bound guard and son of former NBA player Hersey Hawkins scored 54 points last week in a 111-58 win over Holbrook (Holbrook, Ariz.). He's up to 36.6 points per game and has broken the state career scoring record previously held by Mike Bibby of the Atlanta Hawks. Hawkins, who had a Class 3A state record 65 points several weeks ago, has scored more than 3,100 points in his prep career.
