Here's a preseason look at the players to watch in the San Antonio and Austin areas:
Allen is one of the most coveted signal callers in
the state, garnering offers from the likes of Oklahoma
State, Ole Miss and Colorado. He passed for
2,589 yards and 28 TDs last season.
Seastrunk is easily one of the nation's top running
backs from the Class of 2010. He averaged nearly
12 yards per carry last fall, piling up 1,532 yards
and 19 touchdowns.
Okafor, a Texas recruit, was a key contributor on
last season's Class 5A, Division II state finalist
team. He is rated the No. 16 senior defensive lineman
in the ESPNU 150.
Wort made a staggering 213 tackles last fall to go
with four sacks and three interceptions. Rated the
No. 8 senior linebacker in the ESPNU 150, Wort
has committed to Oklahoma.
AN AREA COACH ON CALVIN HOWELL:
"He has great explosion off the line and can really
stand up an offensive lineman, drive him into
the backfield and bust up a play. He always
seems to be in position to make things happen."
