Teamwork seemed to be the prevailing theme at the 2009 Nike Baltimore Combine. Five sets of teammates cracked the Top 25 SPARQ ratings* on Saturday.
Westlake, Eleanor Roosevelt, Linganore, Suitland and North Cross (Va.) all had at least two team members in the top 25.
The official SPARQ ratings will not be available until later this week, until some athletes' times can be manually entered and tabulated. The early numbers say there were over 1,200 athletes to participate in this year's Nike Combine and not just from Maryland. Athletes came from Pennsylvania, Virginia, D.C., New York, New Jersey and even Canada.
The SPARQ rating is a mathematical calculation that takes into account a player's height and weight and uses results in the 40-yard dash, pro-agility, kneeling power ball toss and vertical jump.
Continue to check ESPNRISE and ESPNU all week for complete coverage of the year's Nike Baltimore Combine. We will have a breakdown of the top performances in each event later this week.
