After closing her 2013 season with a third-place finish in the Long Island Handicap on the Aqueduct Racetrack turf, Left a Message will try to nail down her first graded stakes victory Jan. 25 in the Endeavour Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs.
In fact, all 13 fillies and mares entered -- including Liberty Girl on the also-eligible list -- are in search of their first career graded stakes win in the 1 1/16-mile turf event.
Glen Hill Farm's Left a Message won the Flaming Page Stakes Aug. 14 at Woodbine, and after that 1 ½-mile turf race the daughter of Mr. Greeley earned placings in two of her three final starts of the season as she finished second in the Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes Oct. 20 at Keeneland before the Nov. 2 Long Island. Her stakes win and two placings last year all came in 1 ½-mile turf starts.
Waterville Lake Stables' Final Escrow will return to turf after closing out 2013 with a 9 ¼-length victory in an allowance-optional claiming race Dec. 29 at Tampa on a sloppy main track. Last year the daughter of Bernardini won the George Rosenberger Memorial Stakes on the turf at Delaware Park.
Parting Glass Racing's Wholelottashakin finished second in an allowance-optional claiming race Jan. 3 on the turf at Gulfstream after placing in three stakes races on turf last year. The daughter of Scat Daddy will be racing at Tampa for the first time in her career.
