Paul Reddam's European-based Cogito, who was scheduled to leave Aug. 17 for Saratoga Race Course to compete in the Travers Stakes, will remain home after straining an muscle in his back, Reddam told The Blood-Horse. "Cogito has strained a muscle over his back and needs a week of stall rest," Reddam said Aug. 17. "This is frustrating as he was scheduled to leave tonight, but the team felt there was no point in shipping if he isn't 100%." The $1 million Travers is Aug. 25. Cogito, a well-bred son of Giant's Causeway, has won two of his four starts for trainer Brian Meehan, including a victory in the one-mile Betfair Heron Stakes at Sandown Park. He ran second in the 1 1/4-mile Prix Eugene Adam-Grand Prix de Maisons-Laffitte in his most recent start July 22.
