Augustin Stable's Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club runner-up Ever So Lucky was scratched from Saturday's Grade 2, $150,000 Hutcheson Stakes at Gulfstream Park. The decision was not entirely unexpected, for trainer Jonathan Sheppard had hinted earlier in the week that the well-regarded colt might not make his sophomore debut in this spot. "He needed to have some good strong gallops during the week because we gave him a little bit of a conservative work [Monday]," Sheppard said. "The track wasn't that great that day, and it's been [sloppy] since. I discussed it at some length with [Augustin Stable's George] Strawbridge Friday." Sheppard said he would look at several options for Ever So Lucky, including the Grade 2 Swale Stakes, over this same seven-furlong trip at Gulfstream, on March 10.
