Field leads Derby Wager Pool 2

The second Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) pool and the only Kentucky Oaks Future Wager of 2013 closed within 30 minutes of each other on Sunday, but with vastly different results. Just like Pool 1, the mutuel field, or All Others, was once again bet down to favoritism at the close of the KDFW Pool 2. The wagering interest, which includes all three-year-old Thoroughbreds other than the 23 individual betting interests, was the strong 3-1 pick after dipping down to 8-5 on Day 1 of wagering. Unbeaten Verrazano became the favored individual at 9-1 by the time the pool ended on Sunday. Trained by Todd Pletcher, the More Than Ready colt dominated an optional claiming field on February 2 at Gulfstream Park by 16 1/4 lengths and is scheduled to make his stakes bow in Saturday's Grade 3 Tampa Bay Derby.
