Jockey Rosie Napravnik has accepted the Kentucky Derby mount on Louisiana Derby runner-up Mylute. Napravnik, the leading rider at Fair Grounds the past three meetings, rode Mylute to his last win, a 10 3/4-length romp over optional claiming rivals at Fair Grounds on December 26. The gray son of Midnight Lute had been ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan in his previous two outings, a seventh in the February 23 Risen Star and his fast-finishing second, beaten less than a length by Revolutionary, in the March 30 Louisiana Derby. "Rosie was aboard Mylute for his latest victory, and we feel fortunate to have her back," owners Goldmark Farms LLC and Whisper Hill Farm LLC said in a statement. "We'd also like to give special thanks to Shaun Bridgmohan, as well as all of the other riders who have ridden Mylute for their help in getting him to this point in his career." Mylute is conditioned by Tom Amoss, who tied for leading trainer at the recently completed Fair Grounds meet. Amoss and Napravnik combined to win 19 races, including five stakes races, and compiled a very respectable overall record of 52-19-10-7 at the New Orleans track. Mylute earned a 105 BRIS Speed rating in the Louisiana Derby and his Speed numbers have increased in all six starts since breaking his maiden at Arlington Park on August 11. Napravnik will be riding in her second Kentucky Derby. She finished ninth with her first mount, Pants on Fire in 2011.
