ARCADIA, Cali. -- Six Perfections was acting up, late arriving and still got flowers at the end of the day.

With a powerful stretch run, French filly Six Perfections held on for a half-length win over the boys Saturday in the $1.5 million Breeders' Cup Mile at Santa Anita.

At the top of the stretch, Six Perfections charged from between horses and blew past front-runner Designed For Luck down the middle of the turf track. Under jockey Jerry Bailey, the white-nosed black filly held off Touch of the Blues, which made a late charge.

"As soon as she saw soon daylight, she was exploding," said Bailey, who extended his record for Breeders' Cup wins to 14.

Owned by Pascal Bary, Six Perfections clocked 1:33.86 and returned $12.60, $7 and $4.80. She has been either first or second in all six starts this year.

It was a foreign finish as France's Touch of the Blues was second under Kent Desormeaux and paid $9.80 and $6.80. Ireland's Century City showed for $15.60 with Jose Vadlivia, Jr. aboard.

It was the second straight win in the Mile for Bary, who conditioned Ireland's Domedriver to victory last year.

Before entering the 13th gate, Six Perfections balked under Bailey, who was aboard the horse for the first time. She was last to enter the starting gate, but once the race began, Bailey followed Bary's instructions to the letter.

"Pascal told me she doesn't have to be at the head of the pack," the jockey said. "She can be mid-pack."

Having made his last six starts on dirt, Peace Rules broke quickly and held the lead for the first half-mile. However, the Bob Baffert trainee faded hard and finished last in the 13-horse field.

Designed for Luck grabbed the lead at the far turn before Six Perfections, running off the pace to that point, made her move.

"I wanted to save as much as I could," Bailey said.
