CHICAGO -- Lil Mephistopheles beat Act of War by two lengths Saturday in the $102,775 Jim Edgar Illinois Futurity for 2-year-olds bred in the state. Lil Mephistopheles, ridden by Mark Guidry, ran 1 1-16 miles in 1:47.81, and paid $3.60, $2.60 and $2.20. Act of War returned $4 and $3.20, and Jamoke paid $4 to show. The temperature at race time was 18 degrees.
