LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey has agreed to ride Talk Is Money in the 127th Kentucky Derby, agent Ron Anderson said Tuesday morning. Bailey will be allowed to back out of the agreement to ride Talk Is Money "in case something unforseen happens with one of the favorites and we can get on one of them," said Anderson.
Talk Is Money, a probable longshot trained by John Scanlan, finished third in the Flamingo Stakes and second in the Tesio Stakes in his last two starts.
Bailey had the option of riding Songandaprayer, runner-up in the Blue Grass Stakes, but opted for Talk Is Money. Bailey has won the Derby twice, on Sea Hero in 1993 and Grindstone in 1996.
