Final: Capitals 1, Rangers 0

One goal was all Washington needed for Braden Holtby, who turned in his 2nd career playoff shutout tonight. Holtby's 30 saves and Jay Beagle's goal give the Capitals a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series. Box score

After watching the first eight minutes of Clippers-Rockets, maybe double-Hack-a-Shaq wouldn't be so terrible.

Capitals clinging to 1-goal lead

The Rangers have had chances -- many of them, actually. But Braden Holtby has been a stone wall in goal, turning aside all 27 shots on net. Washington leads 1-0 in just over 3 minutes left in regulation. Follow live

Offense lacking in early going of Game 1

With Chris Paul sidelined, the Clippers are relying on Austin Rivers, and they've struggled accordingly. But the Rockets aren't much better, as both teams are shooting less than 40 percent from the floor midway through the first. Follow live

Bulls have a trend they need to break

So the Bulls took Game 1 of the series in Cleveland, the third straight time they've beaten a LeBron James team in a series opener. Excellent! Now they just need to avoid the fate they faced the last two times ....

Desmond down on the deep ball

Ian Desmond's game-tying homer in the 8th inning was only his second HR in 27 games. Last season, he had twice as many through 27 games. Follow live

Thibodeau: "We know that we're going to have to play a lot better than we did today." If he's saying that, what will the Cavs say?

Final: Blue Jays 3, Yankees 1

The Yankees entered tonight's game against the Blue Jays 12-0 when leading after 7 innings and boasted the third best bullpen ERA. But Chase Whitley's relief allowed 3 runs in the 8th as Toronto rallied to a 3-1 win at Rogers Centre. Box score

A record LeBron probably doesn't want

Chicago's wire-to-wire win in Game 1 is the first time that a LeBron James-led team never held a lead in a home playoff game. James has played in 85 home postseason games including tonight.
