The Trojans' offense, which had thoroughly impressed to begin the season, had no answers for the Huskies' defensive pressure in 17-12 loss.

NFL scout told me last week (before Saturday's games): "Arizona State will beat somebody they shouldn't. Washington will beat somebody they shouldn't." Both happened in 5-day span. Scout believed gaps between Pac-12 teams are negligible. Tough to see a 1-loss champ in that league.

Kobe Bryant finished with his best game of the preseason thus far -- 16 points on 5-11 shooting in about 22 minutes. Julius Randle had another impressive showing with 17 points on 7-10 shooting. And Lakers guard Lou Williams scored 19 against his former team.

Myles Gaskin capped off a 50-yard drive with a 1-yard rush TD to punch in another 7 points. Washington leads USC 17-6 midway through the fourth quarter on ESPN.
