Yasiel Puig starts for Dodgers

PHOENIX -- Yasiel Puig was back in the Los Angeles Dodgers' lineup Friday night after being sidelined with a sprained left thumb.

He was booed roundly as he batted second in the Dodgers' 6-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. He doubled leading off the eighth and scored when Hanley Ramirez doubled into the left-field corner.

Puig was hurt in a headfirst slide into first base against San Francisco last Saturday. He missed the next two games, then pinch hit Wednesday against Detroit and struck out on three pitches.

Matt Kemp was the odd man out in the Dodgers' crowded outfield but was expected to be back in the starting lineup against left-hander Wade Miley on Saturday night.

Los Angeles' other two outfielders, Carl Crawford and Andre Ethier, are left-handed batters.
