Scott Downs out with tight hamstring

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Los Angeles Angels left-handed reliever Scott Downs was not available Saturday night against the Baltimore Orioles due to tightness in his hamstring, manager Mike Scioscia said. The Angels used four relievers en route to a 9-8, come-from-behind victory in 12 innings.

Downs tried to warm up in the eighth inning but could not continue after feeling discomfort. He is scheduled to be re-evaluated Sunday, whereupon his status for the series finale will be determined.

Downs, arguably the Angels' top reliever, has not allowed a run in 23 outings at Angel Stadium this season. The nine-year veteran is 6-2 and has 20 holds and a 1.31 ERA in his first season with the team. Downs ranks second among American League relievers in ERA (minimum 30 games).
