Sources: Angels to interview Kim Ng

Kim Ng will get another chance to become the first female general manager in any major American sport.

Sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney on Wednesday that she will interview for the Angels' GM job. No timetable was given for the interview.

Ng is currently vice president for baseball operations with Major League Baseball. She has been an assistant GM with the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ng interviewed for the general manager's job with the Seattle Mariners in 2008; the team ended up hiring Jack Zduriencik. She also interviewed for the 2009 GM opening with the San Diego Padres, who hired Jed Hoyer.

Tony Reagins resigned as Angels GM in September. He had replaced Bill Stoneman after the 2007 season.

The Angels' list of candidates is coming together. They already have received permission to interview Arizona Diamondbacks assistant general manager Jerry Dipoto and Yankees executives Damon Oppenheimer and Billy Eppler.

According to a source, the Angels also have interest in Texas Rangers assistant general manager Thad Levine.

Dodgers GM Ned Colletti said via email that Ng would do a good job if given the opportunity to take over for the Angels. Ng declined to discuss the matter with ESPNLosAngeles.com.

"Far overdue," Colletti said.

In his only public comments on the GM search, Angels owner Arte Moreno told the Orange County Register: "I think you want a good baseball man -- or I should say baseball person, because there are some qualified women out there -- because you want to be able to evaluate talent."
