Magic Johnson is not planning to attend the Los Angeles Dodgers home opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday afternoon. Instead, the new owner of the Dodgers will be in New York City, where his play Magic/Larry is opening on Broadway this week, according to the team.

Johnson's group, Guggenheim Baseball Management, entered into a $2.15 billion agreement to purchase the Dodgers two weeks ago. He attended the team's Opening Day game against the San Diego Padres last week where he sat next to outgoing owner Frank McCourt, at McCourt's invitation.

As part of the sale agreement filed in court last week, Johnson and his group are reportedly prohibited from making disparaging remarks against McCourt or his family in the future.
