DETROIT -- Albert Pujols was out of the starting lineup again for the Los Angeles Angels and manager Mike Scioscia indicated the star won't start Sunday, either.

Pujols hasn't played since Wednesday because of an injured right calf. Scioscia said he tried to run before Saturday's 5-3 loss at Detroit, but the team wants to take advantage of an off day Monday, give Pujols more time to rest and evaluate him after that.

Scioscia did say Pujols could be available to pinch hit Saturday, but he did not enter the game.

Pujols is hitting .283 with 28 home runs and 86 RBIs in 121 games in his first season with the Angels.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
