AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant left All-Star Weekend in Orlando with a broken nose and a concussion. Tuesday he found out he left town with a lighter wallet as well.

Bryant was fined by the NBA for missing a news conference and Friday's league-mandated charity activity, a league spokesman confirmed.

The league spokesman said Boston Celtics' Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce also were fined for missing All-Star events.

A USA Today report said Bryant was fined $40,000 and Rondo and Pierce each were fined $20,000 for also missing the charity activity. The league would not confirm the amounts of the fines.

Asked about the fine after the Lakers' 88-85 overtime loss to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday, Bryant said he hadn't been told of the fine yet and said, "I guess you're not allowed to be sick."
