Antawn Jamison has wrist surgery

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Lakers forward Antawn Jamison underwent successful surgery on his right wrist Tuesday morning.

"(The surgery) went well," a source close to the 15-year veteran told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "No complications."

Jamison suffered a slight tear in his right wrist during the Lakers' 103-100 loss to the Washington Wizards on March 23.

Jamison played with the injury for the remainder of the season, appearing in the Lakers' final 12 regular-season games and four playoff contests.

The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Jamison averaged 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 46.4 percent from the field during the regular season. Those numbers dipped slightly in the postseason to 7.3 points and 1.8 rebounds on 43.5 percent shooting.

Jamison, who turns 37 in June, is set to become a free agent this summer after playing out a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum salary of $1.4 million last season.

Jamison was scheduled for an exit interview with Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak on Monday but missed it because of a miscommunication.

"He doesn't want anyone to think he blew anyone off," the source close to Jamison said. "Not his style or his character, especially after 15 years."

It is unclear whether the Lakers will attempt to re-sign Jamison for next season. Because of the team's cap situation, Jamison is certainly attractive for his production level while only being paid the relatively inexpensive veteran's minimum deal.

However, Jamison had his run-ins with Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni, stemming from a string of six straight DNP-CDs starting in late December.
