UCLA center Anthony Stover was dismissed from the team Monday for failing to meet the NCAA's academic eligibility requirements.
Despite playing sparingly as a redshirt sophomore last season, Stover averaged a team-leading 1.4 blocks per game. His dismissal leaves UCLA with just 10 scholarship players on the roster.
"We are very disappointed that Anthony has not met his academic requirements," UCLA coach Ben Howland said in a statement. "We had high expectations for him, and we were looking forward to getting increased contributions from him during this coming season."
The 6-foot-10 Stover averaged 0.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 28 games last season, logging just 8.4 minutes per contest.
