LOS ANGELES -- UCLA forward David Wear sprained his right ankle during practice Sunday and will have X-rays and further evaluation Monday, the school announced Sunday afternoon.

Wear, a junior, averaged 10.2 points and a team-high 6.3 rebounds for the Bruins last season -- his first at UCLA after transferring with twin brother Travis from North Carolina. He is expected to play major minutes at the power forward spot this season.
UCLA is already without swingman Tyler Lamb, who had surgery to repair cartilage in his knee and will be out until at least early November. The Bruins are also awaiting an NCAA decision on the amateur certification for top recruits Shabazz Muhammad and Kyle Anderson.
UCLA, No. 13 in the preseason USA Today coaches' poll, opens the season Nov. 9 against Indiana State in a game that will mark the re-opening of a renovated Pauley Pavilion.
