Pomee, a freshman from nearby Moreno Valley, joined the team just a week ago because he was required to finish a summer school class at home before enrolling at USC. He had shown flashes in limited playing time since his arrival, including in Sunday's scrimmage, when he turned a short pass from freshman Cody Kessler into a long gain by evading a number of tacklers.
"I thought he was doing great for the little time that we had him," Kiffin said. "So we're excited about getting him rehabbed back and hopefully he'll be ready for the spring.
Over the summer, USC moved longtime tight end Rhett Ellison to fullback, where he's slated to start. But with Pomee now out for the year and sophomore Christian Thomas struggling to stay healthy, the Trojans moved senior linebacker Ross Cumming to the tight end spot in practice Tuesday, where he could provide depth.on Twitter.
