UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- UCLA coach Jim Mora said Tuesday that he "has his eye on a few" Penn State players and that a few have reached out to the Bruins to inquire about a possible transfer.

Speaking during Pac-12 media day at Gibson Amphitheater, Mora told reporters that he had glanced through the roster upon learning that Penn State players would be allowed to transfer and play right away in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Mora did not speak about specific players, but said assistant coaches Adrian Klemm, Demetrice Martin and Angus McClure were looking into a few.

"I think you have to proceed with haste and caution at the same time," Mora said. "You can tend to get a little overexcited about a guy. We don't have a lot of familiarity with a lot of their players ... I've talked to all the coaches about guys they might be familiar with and there are some positions we might look at a little more closely than others."

The Bruins are especially thin at offensive line and in the defensive backfield this season and could benefit from some help at those positions. He said he wouldn't want to bring in a senior in such a situation, preferring to bring in a younger player who can develop in the UCLA system.

"We've had a few of their players reach out yesterday afternoon," Mora said. "Nothing has been done. We want to make sure we are within the rules before we do anything. We want to make sure everything is clarified as to what is the process going forward and where those scholarships are going to count."
