LOS ANGELES -- UCLA wide receiver Devin Lucien broke his clavicle during Saturday's 42-14 victory at Colorado and will miss eight to 10 weeks, coach Jim Mora said Sunday.

Lucien, a redshirt freshman, will have surgery this week to repair the injury. He had two catches for 23 yards Saturday and is developing into one of UCLA's top weapons on the outside with 10 receptions for 188 yards. He is second on the team in yards per catch with 18.8.

"Obviously we'll miss him because he's a playmaker and a developing player and it would be great to get him more time," Mora said. "But I feel good about the guys we've got."

Lucien's absence opened some playing opportunity for other rising players. Freshman Jordan Payton got his most significant action of the season against Colorado while walk-ons Jerry Rice Jr. and Logan Sweet also got on the field. Rice had three catches for 30 yards.

UCLA uses a deep rotation at receiver. Against Colorado, 11 different players caught a pass marking the third consecutive game the Bruins have had that many players catch passes.

"We'll be all right," Mora said. "We'll be OK."
