The injury occurred late in the third period when Visnovsky was struck by a shot.
Visnovsky, 35, has struggled through the early part of the season, producing one goal and three assists with a minus-7. He was coming off one of the best seasons in his 11-yard career, totaling 18 goals and 50 assists in 81 regular-season games, and setting a franchise record for goals by a defensemen.
The Ducks are already without forwards Jason Blake and George Parros. Blake is out until at least January after undergoing surgery last month to repair tendons in his forearm that were cut by a skate blade.
Parros is out for another four weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn retina suffered when he was struck by a puck during practice last week in Chicago.
The Ducks ended a six-game losing streak with the victory against the Canucks, but remain last in the league in scoring, averaging two goals a game.
