Hagman, 31, scored 27 goals four seasons ago for the Dallas Stars, the start of three consecutive 20-goal seasons. He was traded to Calgary midway through the 2009-10 season in a deal that brought Dion Phaneuf from Toronto. He scored 17 goals in 106 games for the Flames.
A three-time Olympian for Finland, he most recently helped his team win bronze at the 2010 Games in Vancouver.
Hagman was assigned to the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL on Friday, then placed on re-entry waivers the following day. The Ducks will pay a pro-rated salary of about $1.5 million for the remainder of the season.
The Ducks also announced they reassigned left wing Peter Holland to their AHL affiliate in Syracuse. Holland appeared in four games for the Ducks, scoring a goal in their only victory in the last eight games, a 4-3 win Friday against the visiting Vancouver Canucks.
