ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Ground was broken Wednesday on a multimillion-dollar renovation of Honda Center, home to the NHL's Anaheim Ducks, that will be the most extensive upgrade since the arena opened in 1993.
The project includes construction of a 15,000-foot indoor-outdoor Grand Terrace, a new public restaurant and an expanded team store. It's expected to be done by early 2013.
The Grand Terrace will be located on the south side of the venue and include an 80-foot bar. Officials say 80 percent of annual memberships have already been purchased by Ducks season seat holders.
The restaurant will be located on the main level and the team store will expand from 1,800 square feet to 4,200.
The arena is owned by the city of Anaheim.
