Rams coach Jeff Fisher won't commit to starting QB Jared Goff on day one but did say he "may start the opener on Monday night, that's the goal."

Los Angeles Rams GM Les Snead and coach Jeff Fisher are happy about landing QB Jared Goff with the first pick in the draft. Snead: "we wanted to come home (to LA) and contend consistently." They believe Goff gives them a chance to do that.

Dodgers 28-year-old rookie Kenta Maeda, on the mound Thursday, is the first starting pitcher since at least 1913 to allow just one run through his first four starts, which were also his first four MLB appearances. Fernando Valenzuela gave up one run over his first five starts in 1981, but he had 10 relief appearances in 1980. Maeda's 0.36 ERA is second in MLB to Jordan Zimmerman's 0.35 mark.

Goff is the new face of the Rams franchise

Field Yates breaks down the Rams' first-round draft choice Jared Goff, saying that St. Louis believes its running game will help the former Cal QB's transition.

Rams QB Jared Goff is expected to arrive in Los Angeles on Friday after he goes through the media rounds tonight, including a scheduled appearance on Jimmy Kimmel later this evening.

Jared Goff is more pro-ready right now, but I think Carson Wentz can be as good or better. Wentz has exceptional mental makeup. He's big and mobile. Yes, he only started 23 games at the FCS level, but don't be fooled by low-hanging fruit.

Since 1960, 12 QBs managed 180+ fantasy points as rookies. Six did so with the help of 4+ rushing TDs. A reason if, we had the promise of a 16-start season, Carson Wentz would be the wiser pick than Jared Goff in fantasy.

New Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff walked on to the stage with Tupac's "California Love" playing in the background. Fitting for the Rams' return to LA and for him as a native of Novato, Calif.

Bio Blast: Jared Goff

The Los Angeles Rams made Goff the first selection of the 2016 draft. Goff left Cal as the record holder in pass yards and pass touchdowns and thrived against the blitz in college.

Jared Goff hit on only 4 of the 7 Parcells Rules for drafting QBs, but could have hit all seven if he had stayed for his senior year.

New Dodgers pitching sensation Kenta Maeda will get a chance to face off against his hero Thursday. Maeda idolized Ichiro Suzuki while growing up in Japan, but never imagined he would get a chance to pitch to the future Hall of Famer. His chance has arrived as the Marlins have Suzuki batting sixth in the series finale at Dodger Stadium. Maeda is 3-0 with a 0.36 ERA in his first four starts with the Dodgers.

Pocket mobility and vision. Those are two keys to Jared Goff's game. Add in the quick release and the high-level football IQ. There should be an expected transition process with Goff moving into the Rams' pro-style offense, but this club needed a major boost at the position. Run the ball, play defense under Gregg Williams and reduce the stress on Goff as a rookie.

No surprise, the Los Angeles Rams selected Cal quarterback Jared Goff with the first pick in the 2016 NFL draft. A few things the Rams really like about Goff: his ability to maneuver in the pocket, his ability to take hits and continue to produce under pressure and how he takes care of the ball (especially in the red zone).

A lonely Blake Bortles jersey as fans wait for the Rams' first overall pick.

I think Myles Jack, once thought to be a potential top-five pick, goes between picks No. 12 and 17 due to concerns over his knee injury.

The Los Angeles Rams are about 10 minutes from being officially on the clock. Most signs still pointing to them selecting Cal quarterback Jared Goff over North Dakota State's Carson Wentz. Either way, it will be the second time in seven years the Rams have taken a quarterback with the first overall pick.
