Only hushed tones in the Marlins' clubhouse postgame after the announcement of Dee Gordon's 80-game suspension from MLB for "performance-enhancing substances." A Marlins official said players were not yet addressing the subject. It was far from the atmosphere that would be present after a four-game sweep, which the Marlins just completed over the Dodgers.

Los Angeles Rams GM Les Snead and coach Jeff Fisher are happy about landing QB Jared Goff with the first pick in the draft. Snead: "we wanted to come home (to LA) and contend consistently." They believe Goff gives them a chance to do that.

Dodgers 28-year-old rookie Kenta Maeda, on the mound Thursday, is the first starting pitcher since at least 1913 to allow just one run through his first four starts, which were also his first four MLB appearances. Fernando Valenzuela gave up one run over his first five starts in 1981, but he had 10 relief appearances in 1980. Maeda's 0.36 ERA is second in MLB to Jordan Zimmerman's 0.35 mark.
